I realized as I was sorting through pictures last night that I missed posting about our fun last Friday,
at our co-op learning group’s Halloween party.
Here’s what you missed…
Last Friday’s party was a switch from our “typical” co-op Halloween parties. Usually we meet on Wednesday at the church of one of the moms in the group. We then have classes the first three periods, followed by a pot luck lunch, and then games and trick or treating.
This year one of the moms had the fun idea of meeting up at Living Treasures Animal Park for a morning tour and then driving to the nearby home of one of our newer co-op families for lunch and trick or treating.
It was a pretty day. Although cloudy, the temperatures were ideal and we pretty much had the place to ourselves.
Living Treasures is a small, privately owned animal park. It is a favorite place of ours and has a special place in our hearts.
On this visit, however, we experienced a new twist on a familiar place. Our co-op signed up for an educational tour (which was wonderful.) One of the staff walked us around the park to meet and greet many of the animals. It was fascinating to hear her share facts about the animals she knows so well and loves so much. The passion she has for he job was evident in her presentation.
Through our tour the kids were able to feed the giraffes,
Pet a baby kangaroo,
and meet an armadillo up close,
It was neat to experience Living Treasures in such an up-close, intimate way.
It was made all the more enjoyable by the fact we were experiencing the park in Halloween costumes.
(The generous staff gave us gift bags of treats for coming in costume.)
After our official tour we then spent time walking the park and feeding the animals on our own.
After we were done at Living Treasures we met up with the rest of our co-op crew at Miss Kathy’s house for a pizza party, games, and “trick or treating.”.
Happy Halloween from the New Castle Star Co-op!
