A Quiet Afternoon

After our day at the aquarium we came home to enjoy a quiet, relaxing afternoon.

We were in true vacation mode… laying around, snuggled under blankets on the couch, playing around with new hair styles in Gracie’s hair, watching movies, and simply relaxing.

It was still chilly outside but that didn’t keep us from grilling shish kabobs on the grill.

With it we enjoyed watermelon and corn on the cob, compliments of Rusty.

It was a bit too chilly to eat outside on the deck so we moved the party inside and had a fun “summery” dinner in the kitchen.

Following dinner we donned sweatshirts and the warmest clothes we each packed and headed to the beach so Toby could do a little metal detecting and the kids could fly their kites again.

Toby metal detected for an hour and Tyler helped, using Toby’s shovel and hand held metal detector to dig up any treasure Toby’s detector detected.

The older kids took advantage of the high winds and watched their kites soar.

When everyone was sufficiently chilled we headed back home to warm up.

Our evening was spent snacking and playing board games. Risk and Apples to Apples were the games of the night. We played for hours, killing time until Toby and Tyler had to head out to their charter fishing boat. They were meeting Toby’s cousin, Mark, at the pier for some fishing fun.

The charter boat was leaving at midnight so the boys headed out the door around 11:15pm.

Both were excited and a little bit tired! Good thing they could sleep on the boat!

The fishing boat will travel all night while they sleep in bunks. The boat will then anchor  40 miles offshore. With the breaking of dawn they will begin fishing for cod and then will return home at night.

Here’s hoping for a successful, vomit-free, ADHD managed, fishing excursion for all involved!
