Temple Blessings for Molly

Standard

temple3

2020 kicked off in a big way with Molly going through the temple to receive her own endowments on January 4th.

She made the temple her desired destination, the blessings found within, her wish. With her eyes set on this personal goal in her own spiritual journey, she prepared day by day, her entire life, for this special moment.

This was a special milestone in Molly’s spiritual walk as she entered to make covenants with Heavenly Father in His house that would serve as a strengthening force and great personal blessing to her throughout her life.

What a joy and delight it was to walk our daughter into the temple to make her own covenants with the Lord.

She was joined by myself, her Daddy and her big sister who came to support her as she went through the Palmyra, New York temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Much as Philadelphia temple stole Gracie’s heart from her first visit, and the Washington DC temple is my temple, the Palmyra LDS temple has called to Molly since her first visit. Molly knew that is where she wanted to make those sacred covenants with the Lord.

There, on a blustery, winter day, she experienced the blessings of the temple and soaked in the sweet spirit found within those sacred walls.

We are so happy for our sweet girl and the path she has chosen to walk, knowing the great joy and profound purpose this path brings.

We love you, Miss Molly! You make our hearts glad. May the sweet spirit you experienced on that special day remain with you as a unending source of peace, guidance and purpose as you pursue God’s plan for your life.

Grace and Zach’s Wedding Pictorial

Standard

Until I can steal the needed moments to record the abundance of blessings over the last few days, a pictorial preview will have to do.

Grace was a stunning bride in her $100 clearance dress so lovingly and artistically altered for Grace as a gift from the talented Miss Wendy.  She took a beautiful dress and turned it into a walking work of art that was so very Gracie!

Her bouquet was one of our homemade wedding projects, with roses Grace dried from bouquets given to her by Zach over the course of their courtship.

They were married Thursday evening, October 17th. The day was filled with festivities and joyful celebration as we celebrated the union of two beautiful souls deeply committed and in love. Their joy was infectious.

Prior to their wedding ceremony, at the Philadelphia Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, we met to capture photos of the happy couple. I took 800 photos that day, finding myself enamored with the beauty of the bride, the adoration of the groom, and the sweet spirit that permeated the temple grounds. Here is a small sampling of the day.

I promise a more wordy recollection when I recover from the week enough to pen something coherent.

It really was a perfect day!

Forever Family

Standard

We believe in eternal families.

20190907_090458

We believe that families can be together forever…

That familial relationships can extend beyond the separation of death and continue on into eternity.

In adopting our sons, we committed not only to love them and stand by their side through the struggles, trials, and hardships of this life, but to also commit to giving them a connection so strong and unbreakable that they woiuld remain firm throughout eternity, promising them the one thing their past causes them to fear most…

Being abandoned, unloved, forgotten, and alone.

Life’s greatest joys are found in a loving family.

This is so in spite of the many distractions and challenges of life.

Strong family relationships require effort, but such effort can bring great happiness in this life and throughout eternity.

Even in families where relationships are difficult or uncertain, the gospel of Jesus Christ can provide hope, comfort, and healing.

The promise that our families can be together after death brings more meaning in life.

It encourages us to be faithful and loyal.

It improves and enriches our family relationships.

It helps us find joy and hope as we deal with the everyday challenges of life.

And knowing that we can be together again brings comfort and peace as we deal with the suffering or death of loved ones.

The sealing ordinance is the crowning blessing of the temple.

It is God’s greatest gift to His children because it enables us to return to live with Him and all of our loved ones forever.

It offers marvelous blessings for this life and the next.

It is a constant reminder that families are central to God’s plan and to our happiness here and in the eternities.

It provides peace, hope, and joy for all who faithfully receive it.

On Saturday morning we entered the temple to commit our lives to Braden, promising to love him and stand by him forever, never leaving, never walking, never giving up on our relationship with him…

Committing to remain tied together in love throughout this life and into eternity.

The journey to get here wasn’t without bumps and potholes. There were many roadblocks thrown up in our path as Satan worked hard to keep us from gifting Braden with this ultimate gift of parental love and promise,

And receiving that gift ourselves from a loving Heavenly Father:

A Forever Family.

How grateful we are for those who came along side us and supported Braden on his special day, showing him great love…

Showing him Christ-like love.

These are the moments of mortality that realign our vision and give the struggles, purpose.

The strength and beauty of the gospel is found in the love of family.

A Temple Tour!

Standard

20190821_171417

This past week we had the opportunity to escape to the house of the Lord, not once, not twice but thrice in seven days.

Three temples…three states…one great week!

IMG_4583 (2)

We enjoyed a temple trifecta as we visited the sweet serendipity of are schedule allowing us to visit the three temples located within a 5 1/2 hour driving radius.

20190821_171828

It was blessed week…

Just what I needed in preparation for the life changes looming just over the horizon. In the quiet stillness of the Lord’s holy temples I found the guidance, peace, and strength I was seeking.

Our wonderful week began on Wednesday when the girls and I traveled to Philadelphia to spend time in the Philadelphia temple where Grace will be married in October. We invited Toby’s mother to meet us there.

20190814_133707

It is a beautiful temple and I can see why Grace and Zach chose it as the location for their special day.

On Saturday we headed the opposite direction for a youth temple trip in Columbus at the Columbus, Ohio temple.

It was an extra special day as it was Braden and Tyler’s first youth temple trip.

We had a huge group attend… What a blessing!

The following Wednesday we drove north for a quick visit to the Palmyra, New York temple, following a visit with Ozzie in Erie. Our temple session was scheduled for 6:00 pm and resulted in us getting back home at 2:00am, but was well worth the effort. It was such a joy getting that special time in with my girls.

There is nothing more joyous that getting to be in the temple with my children and soak up the peace and sweet spirit that resides in that holy place.

I love to see the Temple

Standard

From the time she was a small girl wearing pastels and lace, racing around the nursery at church, she sang the words to this song:

temple 3 - Copy

This weekend these words, so loving sung with off-key enthusiasm by three-year-old Gracie, became her truth as she went through the temple for the first time.

She made the temple her desired destination, the blessings found within, her wish. With her eyes set on this personal goal in her own spiritual journey, she prepared day by day, her entire life, for this special moment.

What a joy and delight it was to walk our daughter into the temple to make her own covenants with the Lord. She was joined by her fiancé, and Zach’s family, who drove the five hours to join her and support her as she went through the Philadelphia temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

When we exited the temple we celebrated Gracie’s big day with lunch at Sabrina’s Cafe, a local culinary icon made famous by their stuffed French toast. This was Gracie’s second request for her special weekend, having dreamt and drooled over the memory of the French toast she ordered there during her December trip to Philly with Andrea.

A trip to Sabrina’s Cafe seemed the perfect ending to an amazing 24 hours with our eldest daughter. We enjoyed a late lunch with the Tame family,

Resized952019072795191413

And Grace enjoyed her long-dreamt about stuffed French toast…YUM!!

Resized952019072795181001

Grace rode home with Zach’s family, so as to help manage things at home while Toby and I took advantage of the rare opportunity to enjoy a mini anniversary trip. For the next 36 hours we fit a lot of fun into our time alone. It was wonderful. It was a perfect long-weekend from beginning to end.

More on the adventures Toby and I enjoyed in upcoming post. Until then..

We love you, Miss Grace! You make our hearts glad.
